The meeting was called to order by Pat O’Connor at 11:10 a.m. A quorum was present.
Pat O’Connor led the meeting (substituting for Moderator Lisa Hughes) and commented on the accomplishments as presented by the Committee Chairs in the Annual Report. We had three motions to present for approval. Pat read each motion with an explanation for each one.
Motion #1: Bylaw change for Article V, section 4 Terms and Vacancies
Existing Language Each council member shall be elected to a specific council position at the Annual Meeting. A term of office shall be two (2) years. Council members may serve two (2) consecutive full terms in the same office. (After a period of one (1) year, they shall be eligible for election to the office previously held. Should any vacancy occur, it may be filled at any time by the Church Council on recommendation of the Nominating Committee.)
New Proposed Change Each council member shall be elected to a specific council position at the Annual Meeting. A term of office shall be two (2) years. Council members may serve two (2) consecutive full terms in the same office. If no replacement can be found, the position may remain filled with the existing member by a majority vote of church members present at an official Congregation meeting.
Dave Scheel made the motion to accept and Doug Vernier seconded. MCU
Motion #2: The following motion was presented: Trustees with Council approved an additional $3,000 for Harbor Impact Ministries – to be taken from the BMW Endowment Fund.
Karen Galvin moved to accept and Cal Eschenburg seconded. MCU
Motion #3: Motion to accept the slate of officers as listed on page 19 of the Annual Report for the 2019 year was read. New member Jody Skonieczny will serve as Member-at-Large for Council.
Randy Kling moved to accept and Cal Eschenburg seconded. MCU
Pat thanked Deuane Martin for his service on Trustees; and Mary Ann Martin for her term on Council for Mission and Ministry. Members applauded as they were recognized for their dedication.
Pastor Alana asked all officers to come to the altar steps and she commissioned their responsibilities for the coming term and gave a prayer. Members applauded in appreciation.
Pat read the names of those individual members receiving certificates for their membership years (see page 6 of Annual Report).
Ken Schultz, Church Treasuruer, thanked Church Secretary, Julie Wendt for assembling our 2018 Annual Report and Amanda Schweihofer, Bookkeeper, for her contribution in gathering information for our year-end closing and other data for the Annual Report. He encouraged all members to read the Annual Report.
