September is Rally Month. Fitting for Mission, it is our church’s month to staff the St. Clair Ecumenical Food Pantry. Micki has done an outstanding job describing how you can get involved. I won’t repeat the information, but I will encourage you to try it. You will be glad you did. Working the pantry, as well as donating goods and/or money to the cause, is awesome and rewarding for all. The Volunteers Appreciation Dinner will be held Monday, October 29 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Please let Micki Baden know if you’re planning to attend.
We have a temporary solution for the Adopted Families Coordinator position. Cathy Light has generously agreed to continue with the setting up the gift and food program duties. Karen Galvin will take over coordinating the delivery of the food and gifts for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thank you so much ladies. If someone else is interested in assisting them, it would be a good opportunity to learn the process(es).
Harbor is celebrating their 100th Impact Day in September. We are so thankful to be involved in this dynamic ministry. As a token of support, you are invited to make an anniversary special donation of dry cat food, socks or cash to help continue this mission. In November, our church will staff the November 20 Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe at Harbor as we did last year. The big challenge is to go to Harbor on Monday, November 19 to set up the Christmas items for the guests. Last year we had 40+ people participate and we are hoping for a repeat performance this year. We will meet at 9:00 Monday morning and work until it’s done. Last year we were done by about 2 PM. We will provide a lunch and beverages for the occasion. Watch for the sign-up sheet on the back table.
Our first Community dinner is scheduled for October 23. I hope you have volunteered to help us kick off this new and exciting program. Details will be forthcoming from the “Be The Church” folks.
Mission is about being the feet and hands of Jesus. Thank you for your support and dedication. We can and do make a difference!
Your Mission Chair,
Mary Ann Martin
