I am writing this the day after our Sunday Birthday Brunch for Everybody! It was so much fun and sooooo delicious! Where else can you have 6 birthday cakes to choose from? Thank you all for your contributions. So far, we have 25 Birthday Parties in a Bag to bring to the Foster Parenting Association. What a generous group you are!
Our next activity will be our Lenten Giving Project. Instead of giving something up for Lent, we’re taking something on! We will collect socks, underwear and jogging pants for KIDS in Distress. These children are brought sometimes in the middle of the night to a foster parent’s home with just the clothes on their backs. Currently, KIDS is only able to give one or two pairs of socks and underwear to children. This is not enough, as I’m sure you can imagine. Plus, the kids like wearing pull up jogging pants instead of pants or jeans and the need is great for these too. We will collect the entire Lenten season and present the items to kids after Easter. If anyone wants to contribute money, we have Mission team members who enjoy shopping and will purchase the items.
Anyone who hasn’t signed up for the Mission Trip to Back Bay Mission October 28-November 3, 2018, this is your last chance. We will be joined by 1st Congregational of Romeo and another UCC church from St. Louis. The cost is about $300 each which includes meals and housing for a week. Transportation is up to each person, but ride sharing is encouraged! See Pastor Alana or Mary Ann Martin for further information.
Thanks again for your mission-mindedness. Have a wonderful February!
